On the 20th October Tavern Motor Club were able to formally present a ‘cheque’ for £1000 to GWAAC. This donation was jointly raised by the competitors of the Cotswold Historic Road Rally, an event the club organised earlier this year, and Tavern MC.
Part of our visit was talk by Joe Hughes, their Charity Team Corporate & Community Organiser. He explained that there is a misconception by the public that the helicopter is a fast means of transport to get injured people to hospital, mostly from remote locations. This is only partly true. The personnel on the helicopter are highly trained in critical care and once they have arrived at an emergency, they give medical care to the patient on the ground including some complex procedures normally associated with the hospital operating theatre then stabilise them before then taking them to the nearest hospital.
Unfortunately, the helicopter was out on a call for the duration of our visit, so we presented our ‘cheque’ to Joe with the three rapid response vehicles as a backdrop.

Bowldown Farms of Tetbury whose land was used for the two Babdown Farm
tests and scrutineering also donated £150 to GWAAC.
Tavern MC also donated £1000 to the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
